The Lady Who Went Insane Chapter Three

Chapter Three:
Won’t You Have Some Tea?

Tick.
Tock.
Tick.
Tock.

She jumped in fright at the noise,
So unassuming and sure.
She could not shake the feeling
That She was about to drown.

With her bright red dress,
She cast a light in the most unearthly glow.
The gloom of the house could be seen
In such contrast, it would seem.

Smoothing out the wrinkles,
She sat politely on the chair,
Waiting for a gentleman
Who would never really be there.

Chatting gaily as She could,
She offered him some tea.

He politely refused;
He didn't want to intrude,
It would seem.

“How are the horses?”
Her voice was all sweet, filled with sound of birds.

The gentleman didn't know how to respond,
So he twirled his moustache
And said, as best he could,
“They are fine, but madam, how is your health?”

She laughed at such a trivial question.

“As you can see, I am as healthy as can be.”

The gentleman nodded, and got up to leave.
For the time was drawing near,
When the sun drops into its hazy descent.

“Before you go, dear sir,”
She started with a smile,
“Won’t you have some tea?”

But before he could respond,
The clock did chime,
And he bid her good day.
